Seeking: Balance

You’ve heard of work-life balance, right?

What about trying to find balance within yourself?

We all have at least 2 parts to our identity at birth (child & boy/girl). As time goes on, we have new parts of our identity added while some parts change, and then there are some that will always remain. Some examples of parts of my identity are:

1. Daughter of the One True King/Chosen Child of God

2. Wife

3. Mother

4. Social Worker

5. Writer

6. Friend

So, as you can see, finding a work-life balance isn’t so simple when you have so many roles specifically in the “life” category. When I think of balance, the main things that come to mind are a balance beam, bicycle, and a scale with 2 sides.

Imagining those three things in particular, you don’t want to overdo it on any or toppling over will occur as gravity inevitably will do its job. If you’re careful balance can be successful but eventually one will grow tired and weary having to choose between keep trying or accept that it is time to move on.

Balance can equal Peace but only if 2 things are true 1. You aren’t spread too thin and 2. You aren’t pouring too much in certain areas while ignoring the others

Seek God for wisdom. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in the season where you can’t go on  any longer without leaning on some sort of support to keep steady.

Even if you fall, Jesus will be right there to reach out his hand to help you right back up again! It’s okay if you feel unsure and unsteady.

If you truly seek God with every step, you can have confidence that he will walk with you through it all!

Daughter of the King, which makes me a Princess in God's Kingdom! I am also a wife to an incredibly sweet and goofy man of God. I am a social worker by trade and compassionate servant to help in the healing of mind and spirit through God's gifts to me and connecting vulnerable people to the source of HOPE and LOVE, Jesus Christ! I love to write, sing, color/draw/paint, take photos of nature and capture moments of joy in life. I am passionate about the mental health and overall well-being of children, teens, and young adults because I know what it is like to struggle through life and faith in dark times. Looking forward to providing this blog as a source of light that Christ has so graciously given me to shine to represent him! The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. -John 1:5 NLT
