About Me

Olivia Wade

I have been a follower of Jesus since I was 8 years old. I am still learning to be more like my Savior each and every day! I went from being a shy girl in Sunday school to the outgoing girl in kids choir after Vacation Bible School. Once I made it to middle school, I was the girl who didn’t want to go to Sunday morning youth because she loved to sit in the sanctuary for worship.

Then, I moved to a new church and joined the youth group there where I made lifelong friendships and transformed in my faith for 5 years from lake retreats, church camps, mission trips, playing games on Sunday nights, and most importantly, growing closer to the Lord and being challenged by leaders to follow the Holy Word and be the set apart child of God I was created to be. I was baptized at 16, once I understood the purpose and significance of being washed clean and born again. Coming up from that water was an incredible moment of pure bliss!

Upon graduating from high school, I became deeply involved in a new church at home and continued to stay involved while I was in college. I served as a greeter on Guest Services and as a vocalist on the Worship Team. I joined small groups and enjoyed serving at a variety of community events. I felt so filled. There were changes in the church, and my family felt led to go to Asbury Church. Many people who worked at and attended Asbury were from my previous churches. I felt like we were coming home. I was able to serve on Guest Services again. I also volunteered with Royal Family Kids Camp (a camp where vulnerable children are able to “just be a kid” for a week), where I officially decided to become a social worker. I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Communication Studies with a Human Services minor from the University of Montevallo and moved back home.

I started graduate school through the University of Alabama’s online program. Since I could attend church weekly, I committed to volunteer with the Kids’ Ministry and Student Ministry for a short while. After a few years at Asbury, we felt led to go to another church for a season. I was able to be on the Worship Team there and serve in other various roles until…. COVID-19. Being out of touch with fellow church members in person for such a long time was difficult to say the least! Upon returning from lock down, I had met who was to become my husband during the pandemic, and things just didn’t feel settled in my spirit for awhile. I graduated with my Master of Social Work degree in July 2021, started working full time in my field in August, and then married my best friend in October (all in the same year)! It was a lot of change all at once, but God was faithful to get me through each and every moment!

Eventually, my family was called to return to Asbury Church. This time, my husband was joining us. Asbury is serious about allowing individuals to use the gifts God has given them and allows them to serve in roles that will make a Kingdom impact. My husband is one of the drummers on the worship team, and I couldn’t be happier that he is able to use one of the many gifts God has given him to help lead worship. Since our return, I have served as a Students’ Small Group Leader, a Welcome Team member, and a Volunteer for Special Events. I’ve reconnected with friends that I made when I was attending previously and made so many more friends upon returning! The amount of mentorship and sense of family I feel is amazing!

I struggled for a while in my career, but in April of 2023, I started as a Case Manager for the Blind with an agency that has helped me my whole life. Being someone with low vision myself, makes this job so much more rewarding to me, and I truly feel like I am where I belong. In May of 2023, I passed my social work licensure exam and can now put the letters “LMSW” after my name. I’m so grateful for the work I do to make a positive impact on the lives of those I serve!

January 2025 gave me my greatest BLESSING of ALL…a SON! I am in awe of God’s goodness and unfailing love! I had desired to be a mother most of my life, but I wasn’t sure I’d get this opportunity. When I say it’s better than I ever imagined, I’m not exaggerating!

I am passionate about using the skills that I have learned over time and more importantly the gifts I have received from the Holy Spirit to make a difference in the lives of those who need a light in their dark places in life. I have always felt in my heart called to “help people.” Growing up, I didn’t know exactly what that meant, but over time, God revealed what he had in store for me. I love serving in roles where I am blessed to interact with others. Any day I can encourage another person and bring a smile to their face is a good day for me.

By trade, I am an advocate, case manager, counselor, educator, and a determined force to be reckoned with when it comes to making sure those I take care of, in any capacity, are being treated properly and getting the help they need to live a full life. My identity, however, rests in being a Child of God, Follower of Jesus, Daughter of the King, Wife, Mother, Friend, Servant, and Kingdom Writer.

I feel most alive when I am worshiping through song, writing, and serving. These are my favorite ways to honor and thank God for all he has done. I am learning each and every day how God wants to use me or lay me aside so that I may rest. I have had a love for writing for as long as I can remember. Sharing my testimony and the lessons I’m learning is a gift that I pray I never take for granted or see as another task on my to-do list. I only desire to see writing as what it has always been, a serene time to let my imagination and complex thoughts run wild together to create art. Art, that I pray will bring God glory and help others see and experience his goodness for themselves!

Come along on this journey with me and discover how much more God has in store for each of his children! God’s love is so indescribable in the best way, but I will do my best to express my devotion and gratitude for all he has done, is doing, and will do in the future!

Below are some of my favorite pictures highlighting big moments in my life that only became reality because God was with me along with some of my absolute favorite people:
